Grand Theft Auto: Vice City App Reviews

Works perfectly on my macbook pro retina display at full rez. I found I needed to redefine a few of the controls in this one as well as san andreas. Would be easier to play with mouse. Sound seems to crackle at times. This has been my go to game for the past 10 years, theres something so awesome about the 80s setting and story that captivates me every time. Also there is huge replay value in Mods, so google search gta mac mods

Great game, but the audio distortion is unbearable. During cutscenes, gameplay, and while listening to the radio station, bad audio quality is accompanied by high pitched electronic squeals which make you want to mute the thing, but that ends up taking away from a lot of the experience. Please Rockstar, fix this glitch. I spent good money on this game, and I want to be able to play it.

Downloaded San Andreas a few days ago and it was great, figured Vice City would also be excellent, but unfortuantely there are issues with this version that need to be addressed, and they are all audio-related. First, as some others have noted, there is a weird electronic sound that Ive noticed during cutscenes. The mixing is also terrible. It sounds like all tire squealing sounds are either missing or WAY too low in the mix, which is very distracting while driving. The "Horn" sounds are also extremely low in the mix. Then, random sounds that should be quiet and barely noticable are hugely up in the mix (ie. the sound that the "property can be bought" orb makes while it spins). Rockstar needs to fix the audio mix in this port and release an update.

The iPad version is great, its the 10th anniversary one (the girl has a white bikini on the poster, not pink). The 10th anniversary version is a thoroughly reworked app and the controls are great. Unfortunately, the Mac/desktop version of Vice City (this version here) seems to be a straight port of the Playstation 2 version; gameplay, physics engine and graphics are pretty shameful (though they were revolutionary in 2002). Its nowhere as enjoyable as the 10th anniversary (iPad) version. Also its nothing like GTA San Andreas for Mac, which is ming-boggingly awesome.

WONDERFUL GAME. THE GRAFFICS ARE GOOD AND GAMEPLAY WAS SO MUCH FUN!

This was the only game I ever beat at 100% completion, a lot of steps involved being pretty tedious, so that speaks to my dedication. I’m excited to have this now on a platform that I can bring with me on planes, trips, etc and I’m almost as entertained as I was when I first played it. I found it was funny that some of the glitches from my PlayStation2 copy had been fixed with this one, too. I really wish Rockstar would address the terrible audio issues with this; doubtful, considering it hasn’t been updated in 3 years, but that electronic hiss that the other reviews mention is really disruptive, especially in the cutscenes. There some missions in the game where the keys required to perfrom certain tasks don’t work on the Macbook. For example, using an RC helicopter in the game is ext to impossible because you need to be able to use the NUM6 and NUM9 keys to move forward and backwards. The game will not let the user perform those functions, making advancing in the game impossible. If there is a way to fix that then I have no other complaints. Any feedback from someone who’s figured this out would be great.

I spent 9$99 and waited long time for download and the app does not open !!! Extremely angry

loved this game on PS2, playing it on Mac is just as awesome. really convenient if you have a PS or XBOX controller… w/o its still great. wish they couldve improved the graphics a wee bit but other than that no complaints!!!!

ok the game is fantastic, even better than the original PS2 version. now to address the complaints with the game that everyone is having regarding the sound and the RC helicopter controls. the sound problem in the left speaker only occurs during the cutscenes and when you complete a mission. even so, while it is noticable, its not distracting. now to the RC helicopter controls. if any of you have a Macbook and you want to play this game all the way through, keep in mind that the default controls for the RC Helicopter to go forward in the mission "Demolition Man" are on the number pad, which a macbook does not have. but you CAN change the controls. to do so you need to go into the options menu, go to the control settings, click "redefine controls," and in the "in car" column, go down to where it says "turret + up" and change the button configuration to whatever you want. and i garuntee you that it will work. I hope i saved you people a lot of anger.

Maybe I am not figuring this out correctly, but once I get to the stage where you need those helicoptors to blow up the building in construction, the helicoptors will only go up, down and side to side, but will not go forward. It will not go forward or backward. I am using the ASWD for direction (A for up, S for down, A to left and D to right). Are there any other buttons to use when I want the helicoptors to go FORWARD (not only able to move forward by using it side to side)? It is very frustrating!!

Very good and fun game . worth every penny i spent. runs really smooth on my MBP with no lags. from time to time there will be little problems with the sound but other than that i love this game . a must buy

This is a great game but There needs to be a bit more to it like exsiting weapons and stuff. And Co-op needed becasue that would make this extreamly beast. Overall it is an extreamly good game get it know just there needs to be co-op added.

This game is best forever,but please make russian subtitles please!

works excellent. No lag whatsoever on my mbp 13 inch (2011) model. Worth every penny.
